We want every student in the Netherlands to dream about how they can make the world better with technology, and show them how they can make those dreams real with a STEM career. That is why Dream Space exists.
We organize diverse and free workshops for students, where we connect technology to real-world problems and encourage students to come up with solutions themselves.
In these workshops students develop STEM skills and other important social-emotional skills, such as empathy, creativity, ethical decision-making and collaboration.
We also help teachers apply computational thinking and 21st-century skills in their own lessons. By actively involving and supporting teachers after the workshop, we ensure the workshops stimulate more STEM education.
In the Netherlands, currently only 16% of technical and IT professionals are women.
This inequality leads to three problems:
With Dream Space, we prepare students for jobs of the future, so we can reduce the gap between the number of technical students and professionals and the gender gap in technical professions.
A visit to Dream Space is free because we want to make it accessible to every student and teacher in the Netherlands.
That is why Dream Space is open to primary schools, secondary schools and special education. Our ambition is that every student in foundational education has followed a Dream Space workshop within the next 5 years.
