The Hoe werkt AI? - Datacenter Education Tour is a new Dream Space program that introduces students and teachers in vocational and pre-vocational education (MBO and VMBO) to datacenters, cloud technology, AI and sustainability.

The Datacenter Education Tour makes this knowledge accessible for all students and teachers, with special attention to equal opportunities in technology and inspiring more girls to pursue technical careers.

Students learn what data is, how the cloud works, and where our digital world physically runs. They discover the foundations of cloud technology and data storage.
Students gain insight into energy use, cooling and efficient space utilization. They design their own mini datacenter concept and think about optimal infrastructure.
Students are introduced to servers, networks and maintenance. They learn to think like system administrators and discover how systems are managed.
Students learn how AI is applied to fault detection, maintenance and energy management. They discover how artificial intelligence makes datacenters smarter and more efficient.
Students gain insight into how datacenters reuse residual heat and energy. They reflect on sustainability and learn about circular principles in the technology sector.

The program follows a train-the-trainer model Docenten krijgen de tools en begeleiding om deze thema's zelf in hun klas te brengen, zodat ze de kennis met vertrouwen kunnen integreren in hun lessen.
Goal: to support teachers in embedding cloud and datacenter topics in the curriculum, and to equip students with skills aligned with real-world practice and sustainable technological development.
Dream Space TV offers a series of six digital episodes of around 20 minutes each. Each episode is linked to a curriculum module, but can also be used independently as an introduction, deep dive, or homework assignment. The series also addresses ethical aspects: how does this work in society, and what are the sustainability goals?
The first pilot starts in North Holland, in collaboration with local schools and partners. Insights from this pilot form the basis for a national rollout in 2026, when the program becomes available to schools across the Netherlands.
Coming soon: registration opens during 2026. Schools and teachers will then be able to register to participate in the program and access accompanying materials.
